2017 | April Favorites

26/04/2017

It's that time of the month again! No, not aunt flow — I am way passed that. I am referring to this month's favorites, which I am this close to forgetting by the way. The month of April has been such a massive low ride for me and it really is quite difficult to figure out what my April favorites are, what's with all the drama that's been going on in my family and life. Needless to say, I managed to spot certain things to share with you today.

First off,

Let's take a look at the featured lady right in the middle of the poster or banner or whatever you wanna call it. She is Katelyn Tarver and I have featured her in my last month's favorite. The thing is, I have been listening to nothing but Katelyn's EP, particularly Weekend Millionaire and What Do We Know. I don't want to talk about her on and on again because I just did in my March favorites post but seriously, her songs are just ❤.

Okay let's move on.

Nyx Full Coverage Concealer Jar in Light / Pale (CJ03)

This is my first pot concealer and I honestly don't know why I never used any pot concealer before! I love them! Granted, this one from Nyx covers my blemishes and dark circles well. It's also very creamy and easy to blend. But, do believe me when I say pot concealers make touch up on the go a lot easier and faster. The only downside is the not-quite-right shade for my under eyes. I should have gotten the shade in nude beige (light medium with orange undertone) or beige (light medium with yellow undertone) to color correct but the Nyx store I went to only had light / pale and tan which is way too dark for me. But I managed to make it work so no problem.

The finish isn't dewy yet I wouldn't call it extremely matte either. Still, if you want a dewy concealer finish, this isn't the one for you.

Innisfree Aloe Revital Soothing Gel

You guys, this is so affordable. For 300 ml, it only cost me $8! Aside from its affordability, aloe vera gel is also a very versatile product. I mainly use it to treat my acne and my moisturizer. Since it sinks into the skin really fast, people with oily to combination skin will love this as their moisturizer. I have combination skin and I actually slather this all over my face like nobody's business and the cooling effect is really, really rewarding. I also notice that it tones down the rosacea around my nose. Unlike other aloe vera gel from other brands, this one from Innisfree is free from harsh chemical, colorant, mineral oils, artificial fragrances / perfume, animal ingredients and imidazolidinyl urea.

While I agree that the natural extract from the aloe plant itself is way better (because it definitely is!), this product actually helps in soothing troubled skin especially if you suffer from constant redness like I do.

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation in Fuji Peony 01

The Fresh Nude collection from TBS is quickly becoming my favorite. I tried their Fresh Nude liquid foundation first and love it. In fact, it's my staple day to day go-to foundation. I decided to try their cushion foundation instead because it has such a sheer coverage that I'm looking for. Like its liquid version, the formula is lightweight, hydrating and has a semi-matte finish. Plus point, it's also safe for sensitive skin. If you are extremely oily, I highly recommend setting it with powder.

Also, for its price, I definitely think it's worth the splurge as opposed to the Innisfree cushion foundation where your product, case and applicator are sold separately. (hella expensive okay!)

Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe body lotion

Congrats Vaseline, you made me love one of your body lotions. My first Vaseline body lotion was their cocoa radiant one and I did not like that. Yes it smells good but it didn't keep my dry, eczema-prone skin moisturized. This one, however, works better. I think it has something to do with the fact that it contains aloe to soothe really dry, sensitive and irritated skin. The texture is also quite rich and very moisturizing even though it gets absorbed really fast.

Creative Lady Directory

I would like to thank Natalie Catalina for introducing this page to me. The Creative Lady Directory is a resource / directory website promoting the works of creative women. You can find tons of creative women from a variety of categories. It's really helpful if you are in need of inspirational people to fuel that creativity of yours.

The Body Electric by Beth Revis

When a book makes you sacrifice your sleeping time, you know it's a good book that leaves you wanting more. The Body Electric by Beth Revis is one such book. It's a young adult, sci-fi dystopian book that I've been reading every single night. In just two days, I have read 196 out of 351 pages. I have a feeling I'm going to finish this book very soon. In case you're curious about the book, just click the title and it will take you to Goodreads.

Alright so that's it for my April favorites. Let me know in the comments below what you have been loving this month. Also, what do you think about this month's banners — do you like / hate it?
